Mike Nichols
Owner/President
Mike Nichols is the President and Co-Founder of ACIS, Inc. He has over 25 years’ experience in the HVAC industry. Mike worked as an HVAC technician for 13 years until starting ACIS in 2002 with Kevin Self, a lifelong friend. Kevin & Mike had a vision for their company that was employee centric, while providing exceptional HVAC service to their customers.
Mike is a native of Dallas, Texas. His interests include traveling, mountain biking and spending time with family.
Kevin Self
Owner/Senior Vice President
Kevin Self is the Vice President and Co-Founder of ACIS, Inc. He too has over 25 years’ experience in the HVAC industry, also working as an HVAC technician for 13 years until starting ACIS in 2002 with Mike Nichols, a lifelong friend. Mike & Kevin had a vision for their company that was employee centric while providing exceptional HVAC service to their customers.
Kevin enjoys helping young people develop careers in the HVAC industry and is active with local high schools. He also raises cattle for youth to show as FFA projects.
Curtis Rippee
Owner / Chief Financial Officer
Curtis Rippee has more than 25 years of financial and business management experience. He joined ACIS as Owner and CFO in 2012. Prior to joining ACIS, Curtis was the Founder of StratiFi Partners, LLC, a CFO and consulting services firm that assisted companies in becoming more successful by providing financial intelligence. Prior to starting StratiFi Partners, his leadership roles included serving as the Chief Financial Officer of several small to mid-sized private companies, and as the Chief Accounting Officer and Vice President of Finance and Administration for a publicly traded company.
Curtis has a passion for teaching, speaking, and serving the community. He is a member of the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees, is active in his church and has served on several non-profit boards.
Curtis graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.
Kenneth Hetzel
Vice President of Service
Kenneth Hetzel is the Vice President of Service and has been with ACIS since 2002. He is primarily responsible for day to day service and operations including overseeing managers, field leaders, and technicians. He enjoys helping in the development of the technicians. He has over 30 years in the HVAC/R industry. He started his career with a grocery store chain servicing air conditioning and refrigeration in 1986. He moved toward commercial HVAC service about 19 years ago.
His hobbies include competing in triathlons and spending time with his family.
Steve Riley
Vice President of Finance
Steve Riley has over 20 years of financial and business management experience. He joined ACIS as VP of Finance and Administration in 2016. Prior to joining ACIS, Steve was the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for one of the largest tax consulting firms in the U.S. Steve has performed in Finance and Accounting management roles for several large national and international companies, and as a financial consultant to small and mid-sized companies throughout North Texas.
Steve is passionate about making the company better every day and values loyalty, dedication, and appreciation. Steve enjoys photography, aviation, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Steve graduated from the University of North Texas and is a licensed CPA in the State of Texas.

Zak Keller
Director of HVAC Projects
While still in high school, Zak started his career with ACIS in 2003 as a service technician helper. Since that time, he has held various lead & management positions throughout the organization prior to becoming Director in 2018. Zak’s responsibilities include the day to day operations and management of the projects department.
Zak enjoys all outdoor activities with his family.
Dusty Young
Director of Plumbing
Dusty Young joined ACIS in 2011 and is the Director of Plumbing and Responsible Master. He began his career in high school as a plumber’s apprentice and has worked for several large commercial mechanical contractors throughout the DFW metroplex.
Dusty is an avid outdoorsman, specifically fishing and hunting and enjoys spending time with his family.
